About The Great Transition

Building workforce partnerships

conference 2009 MAY 27& 28

The current economic crisis presents a threshold moment for government, industry, and labor collaboration. This is the moment to reach back to lessons of the past and plan ahead for a sustainable future. This year, Building Workforce Partnerships explores the potential of a Great Transition – a federal policy convergence of economic stimulus, energy independence, and economic security.

›› What changes are in store for federal workforce programs, education systems, and worker supports?

›› How will investments in infrastructure, clean energy, and efficiency translate into enough good jobs and shared prosperity to restart the economy?

›› How will workers most in need of assistance get access to the necessary social and economic supports, retraining, and good jobs?
